Should I buy a light or a UV filter to protect my Digital Camera?
I recently bought a Nikon D80 with a goal Nikon 200mm VR-18 and want to buy a filter to keep the target at any time without compromising the protection of color, focus or lighting. Suggestions?
We received this question often enough that I decided to download a sample from Flickr showing the same subject made with and without UV filter. Download the image, cut a small portion of the top half and drag it to the same section at the base and see what you think. The photos were taken about 15 seconds apart in subdued sunlight, so I think the lighting was virtually same for everyone. There was not any post-processing that can make a fair comparison. I will not comment further and let you decide for yourself If there is a change of color. Buy a brand like Hoya or Tiffen. Do not put trash in front of your purpose well.
