Canon Rebel XTi is a good choice for someone who has Never Used a Digital Slr?
I have never used a DSLR digital before, but I am very impressed by the hands of Canon Powershot cameras. Does the Rebel XTi to be a good option for me? By the way, what would be good targets for portraits and portraits of nature?
XTi is great. All these days Slr Cameras have full auto mode if you do not need learn everything on hand controls immediately. As for the lenses get a camera with Lens Kit. 18-55mm IS for things that are good for the arts and portraits. If you want more background blur in your photos, you should get the 50mm f/1.8 ($ 100). If the images of nature means bird photos and other animals you need a Telephoto Lens. It is the focal length of the target is measured in hundreds.
